Four Business Segments
Our Very Own Nursery
Eager to control the quality of its production, Azura has created an indoor nursery in Agadir, Morocco, to develop and control the production of grafted plants. We work according to the Good Seed and Plant Practices system (a strict international hygiene and prevention system set up by professionals in the production of tomato seedlings and plants), which is subject to independent control audits.
Today, 100% of Azura's production comes from grafted plants; grafting makes the plant naturally more resistant to pests and diseases, thus limiting the use of phytosanitary products. Our production is planned according to the needs of our clients; it can therefore vary from one year to the next.
In 2021-2022, the area planted with tomatoes will be 986 hectares. Each year the forecast tonnages of tomatoes or herbs are adapted to the needs of our clients.
100% of Azura's market garden tomato plants are produced in-house to ensure total control of crop quality. Azura also grows fresh herbs and edible flowers for sale to professional networks.
Biological Pest Control
Committed to environmental protection, Azura has been working for over twenty years in partnership with BioBest, a company specializing in integrated biological crop protection. Azura uses bumblebees and auxiliary insects to promote the pollination of tomato plants and better protect them from pest attacks.
The Azura Group has recently diversified its activity by creating an Azura Aquaculture Centre, dedicated to the production of high-quality clams (of the European species "Ruditapes Decussatus"). For the past four years, the company has set up a 2-hectare hatchery on the Atlantic coast.
Azura has chosen to join the industry and has developed its expertise by producing its own clams.
